Observing the night ski with the 3.5 metre long Grampians Paradise telescope at Grampians Paradise Camping and Caravan Parkland

If the sky are clear of cloud and the moon absent from the sky (or just a crescent), on Exclusive Wildlife Stays there is the opportunity to get out our very large (3.5 metre long) telescope and spend some time looking at deep space nebula, globular star clusters, the planets that are up and other interesting night sky objects.
If this is something you would like to do on your Exclusive Wildlife Stay, please let us know in advance and we will need to make changes to the standard program. Also please be aware that there is at least a 50% chance that on any given night that conditions may not be suitable for getting out the large telescope.
Long Exclusive Wildlife Stays (3 or more nights) increase the changes telescope observing, and mean you wont have to miss out on watching the nocturnal wildlife.

Spring 2022: The Grampians Paradise Redneck Wallaby Mumma and her very young joey Aiden. It was a very special (rear) treat to see such a young redneck wallaby joey out of the pouch. I and one of our Exclusive Wildlife Stay participants got to enjoy watching little Aiden out of the pouch for around 15 or 20 minutes.

The hollows in the centuries old (up to 500 years of age) River Red Gums trees on Redman Farm are used each year by the long-billed corellas for nesting hollows.
Some years one of these trees (about a kilometre away from the camping ground) is also used by the whistling kites for their nest.

Check in and Departure times for Exclusive Wildlife Stays:

CHECK IN – Our standard check in time for Exclusive Wildlife Stays is 2:00pm until 8:00pm.
While we can get you checked in late; we highly recommend arriving in the mid afternoon when most of our wildlife is resting and hidden away. This will give you time to set up and settle in before our wildlife becomes active around evening dinner time, when the first organised wildlife walk will occur. In winter this could be from 4pm, in midsummer 7pm (about 2 hours before sunset time).

There is also the opportunity to book an early check in between 11:00am and 2:00pm ($5.00 per person) or a morning check in, which means you can arrive any time from 8:00am onwards ($10.00 per person), but please understand that your Exclusive Wildlife Stay does not begin until 2:00pm and that normal camping guests may still be packing up in the morning.

Morning check in: From 8am to 11am arrival at $10.00 per person. Availability of a Morning Check In is dependent on other bookings.
Early Check In: From 11am to 2pm arrival at $5.00 per person. Availability of an Early Check In is dependent on other bookings.

LATE ARRIVALS: Standard check in time ends at 8pm. There are additional fees if you arrive for an Exclusive Wildlife Stay after 8pm:

After Hours check in: For arrivals between 8pm and 11pm at $5.00 per person.
Late Check in: For arrivals after 11pm at $10.00 Per Person.

DEPARTURE – The standard time for vacating your onsite van or site for and Exclusive Wildlife Stay is 11:00am.
On your departure day, there will be no organised activities as part of your Exclusive Wildlife Stay, however it is a great opportunity for you to watch the wildlife by yourselves (or even individually). This will also give you the opportunity to have breakfast in a relaxed manner before packing and leaving by the standard check out time of 11:00am.

You are more than welcome to book either a late check out at $5.00 per person (leaving between 11:00am and 2:00pm) or an afternoon check out (at $10.00 per person), giving you an option to stay at Grampians Paradise until 5:00pm, but please understand that your Exclusive Wildlife Stay ends at 11:00am on the day of your departure and that from lunch time on normal camping ground guests may be arriving.

Late Departure: For departures between 11am and 2pm at $5.00 per person. Please note this will only be possible if there is a vacancy.
Afternoon Departure: For departures between 2pm and 5 pm at $10.00 per person. Please note this will only be possible if there is a vacancy.

TANSITIONING TO, OR FROM an Exclusive Wildlife Stay to a normal stay at Grampians Paradise:
Subject to availability, it is possible to book nights before or after your Exclusive Wildlife Stay as normal camping ground guests, but please remember that the camping ground would be running in the normal mode and that other guests may be staying at Grampians Paradise on the nights outside of your Exclusive Wildlife Stay nights.

Fires and Premier Sites with Fireplace:

** Premier Sites with Fireplaces are very large sites, and include our largest sites. In Summer, from mid-December to the Wednesday before Easter, you will not be allowed to use the fireplaces, as this corresponds with our Summer Fire Season when camp fires cannot be lit.

We also have a number of portable fireplaces that can be hired for $10.00 per night. If you are planning to bring your own fire bowl, urn or other please contact us to make sure it meets our requirements. They must have a solid ashtray 10cm above the ground.

While we can usually help you get things set up so that your personal portable fireplace will not damage the grass underneath (ash trays available for $5.00 per night) we reserve the right to not allow you the use of your fireplace.

Campfires winter and spring only. (No fires during Summer Fire Season).
Fire wood (with kindling and paper) can be purchased at the campground for $36:00 per wheelbarrow load, or $30.00 for a two thirds load and $24.00 for a half wheelbarrow load. Prices updated 28th April 2022. Fire wood comes supplied with paper and kindling.

We usually only allow Campfires from Easter to mid-December, but it is dependant on the weather and other conditions at the time (please see our full terms and conditions).

Cancellation Policy

As part of your Exclusive Wildlife Stay, we close off our booking diary for all other bookings for the dates of your Exclusive Wildlife Stay. Because of this our cancellation policy for Exclusive Wildlife Stays is quite strict and is not open for negation or reconsideration because of unforeseen or tragic circumstances.
To cover for the loss of your booking fees for an Exclusive Wildlife Stay, should you have to cancel, we highly recommend you look at taking out travel insurance for your Exclusive Wildlife Stay.
